Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Healthcare Mentor Hub’
A mentorship initiative where the student organizes interactive workshops and talks to mentor peers and community members on healthcare topics, self-growth, and professional communication. The project includes leadership sessions that focus on quick decision-making and directing teams.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Influencer’ personality type person with strong ‘trailblazer’ business potential.
- I’m super into tech and writing, especially when it comes to health stuff, and I’m pretty good at crafting cool content for social media and blogs. So, I’ve decided to use these skills to mentor others in healthcare, helping them to be strong and grow personally. My goal? To make healthcare better by focusing on understanding feelings and never giving up..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA – TSA (Technology Student Association) is the primary CTSO that offers opportunities in technology, engineering, and leadership. It fits well with the student’s technical and creative skills and provides a platform for competitions and projects that develop rapid decision-making and communication abilities.
HOSA – HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is a CTSO focused on healthcare fields, ideal for enhancing skills related to healthcare communications and mentoring. Participating in HOSA can offer opportunities to engage in community service projects and competitions that build expertise in healthcare topics.
Competitions
This introductory competition aligns with the student’s passion for technology and provides a foundation in coding, essential for developing the Healthcare Mentor Hub.
HOSA – HOSA Healthy Living
This introductory competition focuses on health education and lifestyle management, aligning with the student’s interest in healthcare and community well-being.
This advanced competition challenges the student to develop innovative prototypes, bridging technical design and real-world application, which is vital for evolving the Healthcare Mentor Hub.
This advanced competition encourages deep research and effective visual communication on health topics, which supports the strategic and research component of the Healthcare Mentor Hub.
Community Service:
Healthcare Awareness Fair
Why it fits: This community service event actively engages the local community, promotes health education, and creates opportunities to integrate the skills gained through the competitions into a real-world project.
Implementation: Plan and host a fair in zip code 30038 featuring health screenings, educational booths, interactive workshops, and guest speakers. The event will serve as both a learning platform for the student and a service to the community.
Skills Development: Event planning, community engagement, public speaking
